A déclaré Mme Malékah Mourad-CONDE
Directeur Général de SODERTOUR LACS

2013-03-20 | THE FAUNA RESERVE OF ABOKOUAMEKRO: SETTING UP OF THE LOCAL MANAGERIAL BOARD THE GENERAL DIRECTOR OF SODERTOUR-LACS ANNOUNCES THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN EQUITABLE TOURISM

After its destruction in 2002, the administrative and political authorities of The Aries region as well as the populations bordering the fauna reserve of Abokouamekro decided to reestablish and rehabilitate this reserve which used to be a tourist development pole of pride in Yamoussoukro. Likewise, a board of local management of the fauna reserve of Abokouamekro was created by the recipients. The official installation of this committee took place on Wednesday, March 20th by the regional prefect, also prefect of Yamoussoukro Andre Ekponon Assomou.

To break with former practices which did not prosper, to entirely and fully associate the bordering populations in the rehabilitation project of the fauna reserve of Abokouamekro, to give a choice place to these populations in the tourist exploitation of this reserve; such is the new initiative, the new approach, indeed the new agreement SODERTOURS-LACS wants to construct with the bordering populations of Abokouamekro fauna reserve. This new vision was exposed by the managing director of SODERTOURS-LACS on March 20th during Abokouamekro fauna reserve board of local management official installation.

DERTOUR-LACS in collaboration with the Ivorian office of the parks and reserves is in charge of the management of this reserve and from now on has decided to do things differently in its new exploitation. Thus the managing director Mrs Malekah Mourad Condé has seized the opportunity of the board of local management installation to invite the bordering population to support the rehabilitation project of the reserve and to adhere to its exploitation for an equitable tourism. In the tread, she also announced the training of the youth of bordering villages on the subject of ecotourism; which will serve as an interface between rural people and their structure for a greater awareness on the interest to take part in the Abokouamekro fauna reserve tourist development project. As mentioned by SODERTOUR-LACS managing director, the point is to use tourism as a source of income for the local population through the exploitation of the reserve. She has henceforth exhorted the bordering population to stand up for the rehabilitation project in order to gain the maximum of financial and material opportunities for this exploitation. In addition, the message of the prefect of region went in the same direction as the managing director’s. The representatives of bordering populations welcomed the installation of the board of local management and undertook to explain to others the worth of the forthcoming tourist activities resumption in the reserve. Nonetheless, they asked authorities (prefect, SODERTOUR-LACS managing director, OIPR executives) to join them in the effort of carrying the message of revival to other rural populations.

Let us keep in mind that the board of local management composed of the region whole prefectoral body, SODERTOUR-LACS managing director, OIPR central zone director and the bordering people representatives.

2013-01-16 | The team of Ivory Coast participates in the third edition International Catering Cup and “sharpens its knives”.

At the end of catering masters organized by Sodertour-Lacs and under the supervision of Joël Mauvigney’s, CEO and founder of international Catering Cup, the Ivory Coast team made up of Eby Kadio , pastry chef at President of Yamoussoukro hotel and Kanga Kouakou, cook chef at hotel des Parlementaires of Yamoussoukro, qualified on June, 2012. They then subsequently took part in the finale of the third edition of the International Catering Cup, on January 25 and 26th 2013 in Lyon in France.

a press conference held on Wednesday, January 16th, before the departure of the Ivorian team for the competition; the managing director of the Sodertour-Lacs, Malékah Mourad Condé, raised the stakes of the participation of Ivory Coast in this international-wide gastronomic competition. She claimed that the competition will “position the destination Yamoussoukro on the map of the gastronomic tourism industry, by stamping a label of quality on the proceedings and to make gastronomy a tourism leader of the Region of Aries”. She was convinced that it was possible to make Yamoussoukro the capital of the gastronomy of the West African sub region. This was due to the fact that the best international caterer registers the participation of only 12 countries from all the continents and Ivory Coast was the only country in the South of Sahara to take part in this competition.

The managing director also outlined a proposal to finalize an outline agreement with the coordinators of this event. The main aim of this agreement will be to develop a center of catering services training for the sector of the Region of Aries. In conclusion, she seizes the opportunity of her presence in France as she leads the Ivory Coast team to canvass technical partnerships.

The chefs Eby Kadio and Kanga Kouakou, showed their determination to place Ivory Coast honorably in this international competition. They said, “We are aware that as we go for this competition, we’ll meet world leaders of gastronomy; but we do not go resigned to our fate. We have been in this job for many years and we intend to assert our collective experience and qualities in this competition. We hope come back to Ivory Coast with good results”.

The Ivorian team also capitalized on its fame as the number one cocoa producer in the world and brought honour to chocolate in this competition. They incorporated Ivoirian raw materials (cocoa, coffee, and ginger) into the European dishes in this competition and through that created exposure for the local gastronomy field. Thus the motto chosen was to do “gastronomy differently”, was to be able to incorporate Ivoirian raw materials, (cocoa, coffee, and ginger) to the imposed European dishes in this competition.

After the interaction with the press, the chefs Eby and Kanga unveiled the fruit of their labour/ preparation. They presented dishes according to the rules of the competition of the best international caterer.
